Hailing from Calgary, Women are (with a certain amount of inevitability) an all-male quartet, specialising in a stealthily rather innovative line in trashy guitar clatter and addictive pop harmonies. The all-too familiar reverb splatter and garage-dwelling recording traits are in full effect (though on record - producer Chad VanGaalen certainly offers a superior take on this well-worn aesthetic) yet the often jarringly obscure guitar link-ups offer plenty of fresh sounds. Women sound like they're miles ahead of their garage-pop contemporaries. Very highly Recommended. Jagjaguwar
